Usually working behind the scenes promoting area artists, PAAC is featuring an exhibit that showcases the work of members of the PAAC board of trustees, staff and supporters. The mixed media exhibit features a range of excellent work in textiles, drawing and photography.
About the artists
Valerie French is a local artist and educator whose experience ranges from fine art painting and sculpting, to creating animatronic figures and sets for theater, museums, and theme parks. Her work can be seen in Great Wolf Lodges, Disney and other theme parks, The Lincoln Presidential Museum, and many other such venues around the world. Valerie is a graduate of Bowling Green State University, with a degree in Art Education. Valerie is our new Executive Director.
Amber Hersch began exhibiting her photography locally and in Columbus even before she earned her fine arts degree there in 2006. Her work has appeared at 577 Foundation, the Rossford Library and in Columbus at Madlab Art Gallery, among others. She and her mother Diana Hersch, also a photographer, have been invited to exhibit several times together. Amber Hersch's black and white studies include one of Lake Champlain and a bonzai Beech tree image captured at Hidden Lake Gardens in Tipton, Michigan.
Diana Hersch has worked as a photojournalist and professional photographer. She received 11 National School Public Relations Association Awards for photography, including three Best of the Best Awards, and her work has appeared in several state publications and local newspapers. She has exhibited at local art shows and with her daughter Amber Hersch, also a photographer, at the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg and at Rossford Public Library. Diana is our newest member of the Perrysburg Area Arts Council Board of Trustees.
Larry Jarvis is a local photographer whose work has been exhibited at the Nature Photography Center at Secor Metro Park and the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments offices. Larry is married to board member Hope Jarvis.
Nancy Rodgers’ photography has appeared in the First Responder News state publication, New York Catholic News, Farmland News, and local newspapers such as the Perrysburg Messenger, Rossford Record, Point and Shoreland Journals. Since 1999, her photos have been published annually in the Sentinel Tribune’s Wood County Fair “Winners Circle” tabloid. Her photographs have won awards in the portraiture and wedding categories each year for more than a decade at the Wood County photography competition. Nancy is a supporter of the Perrysburg Area Arts Council.
Janet Smith has been pursuing photography as a hobby for more than 10 years. Her favorite subject is nature and landscapes. She has been published in the Ohio Magazine and is currently enrolled at Owens Community College to improve her skills. Janet is a former staff member of the Perrysburg Area Arts Council.
Jennifer Solon is a local textile artist who creates abstract mixed-media collages. The pieces included in this exhibit incorporate layers of digital images, fabric, and paper, along with a variety of surface design techniques. Her work was recently exhibited in the Toledo Area Artists Exhibition at the Toledo Museum of Art. Jennifer is the PAAC administrator.
