The watercolor paintings of Janet Ritter Davies' reflect her inspiration – the changes in seasons, especially in nature. She sees the intricate beauty in botanicals and flowers. Not limited to “garden art” her paintings also encompass unusual subject matter.
In her Garden Art series, which can be seen at the Perrysburg Municipal Building, Janet recreates a natural world on paper. She uses color and light to bring out the most interesting details of her subject.
In her Eclectic Collection (at the Way Gallery), Janet has painted landscapes and objects often using skewed perspective to offer us a view from a different angle.
A native of Northwest Ohio, Janet took up painting after her children were grown and had “flown” the nest. With a minimal of formal art training, she is a self-taught, freelance artist. Always “dabbling” in the arts, she formerly delved into the art of batik, and is also a calligrapher. She is a member of the Toledo Commission for the Arts and also is a musician.
Janet has been exhibiting her paintings since 2009, attending many festivals and events. Her work is on exhibit in many shops and galleries. For more information about the artist, please visit her website. Please contact Janet at daviesgarden@sbcglobal.net for commission work.
This free exhibit will run through the end of May and is open to the public during business hours at the Perrysburg Municipal Building (9am-5pm, Monday - Friday).
