the local cheeseburger: Lee Fearnside

Oct-Nov 2011: Way Public Library
Way Library (lower level) 101 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg, OH

The Perrysburg Area Arts Council presents a photo exhibition featuring the work of Lee Fearnside, photographer and Assistant Professor at Tiffin University. The exhibition focuses on alternatives to mass-produced fast foods, by highlighting options offered by local farmers and food producers. The exhibit, entitled The Local Cheeseburger, illustrates the local production of the various components of this popular food item.

“My photos examine the products that make up the cheeseburger – the beef, the bun, the cheese, and the lettuce – as produced by local farmers and bakers. Each artisan makes their products from homegrown local ingredients and sell their goods at area farmer’s markets. They all speak about their passion for their products, their love of the craft, and the value of connecting to a local community in an age where face-to-face exchange is often diminished by virtual experience. The Local Cheeseburger offers its audience the opportunity to reexamine their relationship to common food and the people who make it.”
