Fire Apple Series: glass by matthew paskiet

Matthew PaskietMatthew Paskiet’s glass reflects his unique vision and passion in the way he uses a variety of age-old and off-hand forming methods. The results are works of great depth, optical fascination and beauty. His works have been displayed in a number of national and international exhibitions, shows and galleries.

A native of Toledo, Matt began his career as an artist after receiving a BA from Bowling Green State University. He began working with glass as a student at The Toledo Museum of Art in 1994. and continued his education at the Pilchuck School in Washington State under the instruction of glass master Dino Rosin of Murano, Italy. Matt has also studied glass under world-renowned glass artists Dale Chihuly and Renee Culler.

In 2002 Matt opened Firenation, a gallery and studio in Holland, Ohio where he creates and displays his work. In 2004 the Toledo Museum of Art & Toledo Federation of Arts Society selected Matt to receive the Toledo Glass Guild’s Dominick Labino Memorial Award. He was awarded the Dominick Labino Award from the Ohio Designer Craftsman “Best of 2007” exhibition. In 2009 the Ohio Arts Council selected Matt to participate in its Artist in Residence program. He is currently sharing his artistic expertise with the students and faculties of many public schools across the state.

This free exhibit will run through the end of April and is open to the public during business hours at the Way Library (Monday-Thursday: 9am-8:30pm, Friday and Saturday: 9am-5:30pm , and Sunday: 1-5pm). The Way Gallery is located on the lower level of the library.
