Tangled: ron tiller

March 2010: The Flying Joe Coffeehouse
2130 Preston Pwy (Levis Commons) Perrysburg, OH

The Flying Joe Coffeehouse is now featuring the drawings of Ron Tiller as their first exhibit in PAAC's Art in Public Places series.

PhotoRon creates artwork that builds on his strong sense of line work and composition as well as his interest in recreating the female form in ways that are classically undiscovered. He started drawing the figure at the age of 12 and spent 30 years honing his technique combining prismacolor pencils and prismacolor marker to the finest detail. His drawings, from a distance show a monochrome look, but upon closer inspection a layering of colors overwhelm the eye.

Ron’s work has been exhibited in many venues over the years, and during his senior graduate art show at Bowling Green State University, he won Best of show and 1st place for Drawings exhibited. Ron graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s in fine art with a specialization in drawing.  Ron lives in Maumee Ohio with his wife Yvonne and his two children Brach (18) and Brooke (16).

Ironically enough, drawing is not how Ron makes his living.  He works for an internationally renowned art and design studio called Lifeformations where he is a Lead Artist and portrait sculptor.  Some of his more recognizable sculpts are Ben Affleck, and Tom Cruise in the Hollywood Wax Museum, Ken Griffey Jr. in the Louisville Slugger museum and Emmitt Smith of the Dallas Cowboys amongst a host of other famous and in-famous characters over the 5 years he has been at Lifeformations.

This exhibit will run through the end of March and is open to the public during business hours at the Flying Joe Coffeehouse (weekdays until 9pm, Fri/Sat until 10pm and Sun until 6pm). For purchase information or other inquiries, please contact the Perrysburg Area Arts Council.
